A Herd Homes® Shelter is a roofed  complex, incorporating a slatted floor and effluent processing basement.

Herd Homes® Dairyard

A relatively new concept, the Herd Homes® Dairyard should soon be available commercially.

Based on the Herd Homes® Shelters, Herd Homes® Dairyard is essentially a covered yard with a slatted concrete floor which allows effluent to be captured in the bunkers underneath.

Requiring no hosing, this yard effectively reduces the amount of effluent for disposal by keeping out the water. Bunkers can be emptied between milkings with the nutrient rich effluent (fertilizer) being put back on the pastures or crop paddocks. 

 
The covered yard ensures the cows are protected from the elements and the time saved with no hosing is proving a popular hit. Several Herd Home® Dairyards are in operation and if interested it is recommended that a visit to see one in operation is a must.
